The sacred and ancient abode of “Chamundeswari “ at  Ellipode village is existing since last 400 years.

The beginning was from a “Thekkini” a room at south portion. The poojas and rituals where systematically performed as per Temple rites with great devotion by maintaining the sanctity for decades resulting increase spiritual brightness and consciousness.

Centuries ago a “Yogi Varyan”  being the eldest member of the family worshiped Shri.Chamundeswari from the southern part by esteemed Seva and Devotion.  Devi pleased and blessed him and agreed to accompany to Elipode to have her presence in the family. Accordingly the Yogi  installed Shri.Chamundeswari at Kavuvilakam as family deity by arranging a separate room called as Thekkini. Also the other family Devadas i.e; Manthramurthi, Yakshi Amma, Madan Thamburan where placed along with. The poojas and rituals were conducted and maintained constantly and regularly. Further after a period of time the then elder successor of the family worshiped and pleased Kushvanthod Mahadevan’s Dhikpalaka Thamburan of south part by seva and placed it at Thekkini along with other moorthis and performed poojas and rituals as usual. It is believed as per Aithihya.

The Bhavas, strength and involvement of Aadi Parashakthi  is great and can never be considered as small. The incarnation of Chamunda Devi (Chamunda) was mainly for the devastation of the powerful Asuras – Chandan & Mundan. Puranas proclaims that the manifestation of Chamunda (Kalikka) was formed from the specific power came out from the eyebrows of Goddess Devi Durga. It may be seen that parashakthi has manifested in various  Bhavas so as to protect evils and re-establish tranquility and peace amongst the creatures.

 Parashakthi  is supreme and her presence is everywhere. The worshiping of Devi is considered very sacred.

The Chaitanyas (glory) of Devi was internally and externally felt by each and every devotees, in one or the other ways. The matter was discussed in detail. A positive decision was finally arrived for construction of a permanent abode for the moorthis. Kavuvilakam family (Tharavadu) generously supported the project proposal and a major portion of the funds and land was donated. Elipode family also joined in this noble cause. The willing and unstinted cooperation of the local people’s involvement at large by which the materialization of the auspicious project was possible. The timely approach and association of the Families and the whole hearted service involvement of the devotees / public could run well together for the completion of the task.

In accordance with Astrological Prashnam conducted by Shri.Malayin Keezhu Kannan, the temple planner Susheendram Shri.Pradeep Namboodri prepared the Temple drawing. The temple architect – shilpi Marthandam Shri Sundaran carried out the temple construction. The idol of Chamundeswari in Panchaloha was installed on 4th July 2019. 1194 (Mithunam 19) Thursday at  Pooyam Star – Shukla Dwithi Thithi day between 10.20 and 11 auspicious muhurtham by temple thanthri Byloor Manna Shri.B R Anantheswara Butt Swami’s duly meeting all thanthric and vedic rites being the Chief Priest. The Devan, Ganapathi and other Upadeva Prathishtas in Krishnashila were also done. His Hiness the member of Thirvithamkur Raja family Aswathi Thirunal Thamburati lighted the Bhadra Deepam with her sacred hands on the occasion and submitted the temple for the devotees.

The temple modification was commenced in the year 2017 and work completed just before the Prathishta Day i.e; 4th July 2019. The Governance of the temple is directly dealt under the control and management of the Kavuvilakam Chamundeswari Thamburan Trust.

Today this temple and the deities have become the Desdaivam of Kavuvilakam including Elipode village, who vehemently protects and prevents all evil spirits and happenings. Our soulful prayers to Devi and other deities for the safety, peace & prosperity to one and all. We bow before you for the blessings and well beings. “Sthuthi to Abhayavarda”.
